Late collection / Uncollected child procedure
When I provide care for a child I will always arrange a time when the child should be collected, this may be a contracted time or pre-arranged on the day.
I understand that on occasions there may be unforeseeable delays which prevent you from keeping to this time. In this circumstance you should call me as soon as you know you may/ will be late to collect your child and give an expected time. Having a child for longer than expected can impact on my ratio’s, disrupt your child’s routine and cause worry or distress to your child. It is important that you let me know so that I can prepare your child and organise additional activities and meals if necessary.
If I cannot accommodate your child for additional hours I will ask you to arrange for somebody else to collect them. I will offer to call the persons listed on the authorised list to arrange for them to collect your child.
Should a parent be late to collect their child and I have not heard from the parent I will try to make contact with them. If I cannot contact the parent I will try to contact somebody from the authorised list. After a period of time (this will depend on the circumstances) I will call Social Services and follow their advice.
