Emergency evacuation procedure
This document outlines the procedures I will follow in the event of an emergency evacuation. I practise emergency evacuations every 3 months and more often if needed so that children are familiar with evacuation procedures.
The exits on the ground floor are the front door, patio doors in the dining room, and side door in the kitchen. The exits on the upper floor are front bedroom window and back bedroom window.
In an emergency I would act quickly to ensure the children are evacuated as calmly and safely as possible. As we evacuate I would try to shut doors and windows if it was safe to do so. I would try to take all the children out through the same exits and keep together once outside. I would take the children to my neighbour’s house. I would ask my neighbour to call for emergency services immediately, whilst I made sure the children were safe and reassured. I would then begin contacting parents to collect their children.
We will follow the advice of the fire service and not return to the building until it was deemed safe to do so. I would inform Ofsted of any serious incident.
